“We and each of us well acquainted with Emmaline Davis and have known her all her life. We also lived together before the war. We no [sic] Jerry Wilson and her mother name [sic] Susan Wilson and know them live together as man & wife. She had 5 children from him and they all living today, named as follows, Emmaline Davis, age 58; and Ed Wilson, age 50; Jim Wilson, age 48; Virginia Wilson, 46 years; Jerry Wilson, 44 years. Jerry WIlson, the old soldier, went to war and came back in January to his wife and lived with her up to his death the 15th day of March 1866. He died at Macon, Lakevillage [sic], Ark. He told us that he joined 3d USC Cav in F or D and came home with soldier’s clothing on. He died with short time after he came home, had heart trouble and rheumatism
