Halloway Griffin, Company K

The midwife who delivered the soldier’s children provided proof of birth; the attending physician provided testimony. This evidence was essential in proving the legitimacy and eligibility of minor children to received benefit.

Sabrah T. Edge … The claimant had not married prior to her marriage to said soldier for I knowed her from 1860 to 1891 and she lived within a 1/4 of a mile of me. The said soldier had never married prior to his marriage to said claimant to my knowledge for I was a cquainted with him from 1860 to his death in 1884.”
